Why did I start Lighterature?

'No visual artist should ever give up because of basic money'

I  gave up photography as a career because there were not many assignments in the market and making a living with photography in that era was difficult. We are talking about the year 2004 when digital photography was still in its nascent stages and the film camera was more commonly used. 

I then therefore to move on to other creative fields which were affordable to learn and  were job oriented. A journey of 8 years in Advertising then begun. 

Cut to year 2011 when I saw an opportunity in 'photography as a service,' due to the growing popularity of ecommerce platforms in India. I started Arcis Studios in Bangalore trying to provide ecommerce photography to various clients. However the venture failed as it was too early for the market. Not many ecommerce players wanted such a solution at that point

After another 2 failed attempts in starting up, an opportunity of bulk photography hit me again. This time it felt right! With all my experience in advertising, photography, startups, digital product development, I had the right tools and the knowledge to begin another venture, in a space which I had started my career with. 

A little study showed that there was a huge requirement in the market and a huge pool of talent available, and yet businesses never found the right photographer for his job and the photographers were not able to convert and bag good assignments.

This led to the birth of LIGHTERATURE PRODUCTION. 
Over the years I had learnt that any artist is not able to do business, because they are not taught that in any school. Clients on the other hand mostly were disappointed as photographers were not able to deliver as per their understanding. 

That's the gap Lighterature will cover up. To begin I needed an army of photographers and video makers. And I will be only able to build that army if I address their most difficult problem, that is 'Consistent Work!'  Signing up with clients who needed catalogue helped solve this problem for them. We now stand as a trusted business partner for talents from across the country. 

The pandemic surely did a lot of harm to the flow of work, however we have survived and now will bounce back with a few products of our own.
